Third generation family owned and operated
It all began back in the 1930s when Howard Henry Rogers worked for Welchans Elevators as a repairman. In 1948 in response to Welchans going out of business, Howard Henry Rogers struck out on his own, founding Conestoga Elevators in 1948. He was soon joined by his son, Howard Henry Rogers Junior.
In 1962 the company was renamed to Lancaster Machine Manufacturing to better reflect the region it served. At the time Lancaster Machine Manufacturing did both vertical mobility solutions and machinery fabrication.
Also in 1978, Patrick Howard Rogers, the grandson of Howard Henry Rogers, became the General Manager of Lancaster Machine Manufacturing and continues to lead to the company to this day.
In the 1980s, while remaining legally incorporated as Lancaster Machine Manufacturing the company would also begin to go by Lancaster Elevators to better reflect its increasing focus purely on vertical mobility solutions.
In the 1990s Lancaster Elevators expanded more firmly into Berks County with the purchase of Reading based Meinhart Elevators. Lancaster Elevators acquired Meinhart’s staff and office in Reading and continues to serve Meinhart customers today.
Lancaster Elevators continue to operate today as a family owned non union elevator company. We continue to serve Central Pennsylvania, along with parts of Maryland and Delaware. We service all makes and models of elevator, dumbwaiter, and wheelchair lift. For our installs we work primarily with Canton Elevator, Custom Elevator, and Inclinator Company of America.
We've been a proud member of the National Association of Elevator Contractors for over 40 years.
